Community Service Project at the 2012 Membership Dinner, November 14, 2012

Posted over 11 years ago by Wendy Rusin

NP Week Community Service Project - We have once again selected Reach Out and Read (ROR) for our annual Community Service project during National Nurse Practitioner Week and Awards Dinner on Wednesday November 14, 2012 at 6:30 pm, Marriott Center (220 South State)~~ Registration open this week~~

What is Reach Out and Read (ROR)? ROR is a national non-profit organization that makes literacy promotion a standard part of pediatric primary care, so that children grow up with books and a love of reading. The ROR model promotes early literacy by giving new developmentally-appropriate books to children, and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud, during the routine Well Child Care Visit.

What do I need to do? Participation is easy - just bring a new or gently loved children’s book (ages 6 months to 5 years) with you when you attend the awards dinner.  If you know someone who could donate a large volume, we would welcome that as well.

Cash donations are also welcome and allow for purchase of books directly from ROR at a discounted price. Books are distributed to health clinics with a ROR designation.

Please join us and thank you for your participation in this special service project!

*Bring your books or donation to the NP Awards dinner.

* Can’t make the dinner? Send or bring a donation to Julie Steele, South Main Clinic, 3690 South Main Street   SLC, UT 84115    call questions to (385-468-3952)

 Or

* Drop off new or gently loved books through November 30th to Julie Steele at South Main Clinic or 3rd floor University of Utah College of Nursing
