MUST READ! Preceptor stipends are coming!

The Utah Health Workforce Advisory Council (HWAC) has released a series of documents to inform and support efforts to strengthen Utah’s clinical training infrastructure.

1. The Utah Clinical Preceptorship Stipend Program Recommendation Document outlines HWAC’s formal recommendation and the key components of the proposed stipend program. 
2. Bridging the Gap provides a detailed landscape analysis of Utah’s clinical training needs for physicians and advanced practice registered nurses, highlighting current workforce challenges. 
3. Building the Bridge captures the deliberative process of the Clinical Preceptorship Subcommittee, including the policy research and decisions that shaped HWAC’s final recommendation.

Together, these reports offer a comprehensive foundation for understanding and addressing Utah’s clinical preceptorship needs. UNP has been involved in this work and our hope is that Utah NPs will consider precepting students more often. This list is for internal purposes only and does not directly include the state reimbursement application. The start date for reimbursement has not yet been announced and we anticipate a pilot program for 2026 with full implementation in 2027.
